D’Lan Contemporary Sydney / Gadigal
We are delighted to announce that D’Lan Contemporary Sydney will open on 28 November 2024, on the ground floor of the historic former Post Office building on Queen Street, Woollahra. The new, light-filled space will host regular exhibitions of modern and contemporary art by First Nations artists alongside a programme of talks and events that will celebrate and promote the rich art and culture of Australia’s first peoples.
D’Lan Davidson said, ‘Australia will always be where our work begins. Establishing a presence in Sydney, where there is significant interest in First Nations art, is vital. We are dedicated to not only participating in but actively shaping this critical element of Australia’s art market, while increasing the awareness of these artists globally. Our aim is to foster growth and opportunity, and contributing to the dynamic energy that defines Sydney’s art scene will become an important part of this endeavour.”
D’Lan Contemporary has recently undergone several years of strategic growth in Australia and overseas – with the opening of a space in New York, and participation in Frieze Masters, London – which has enabled us to raise awareness of and appreciation for First Nations art on an international level, whilst maintaining a leading presence in Australia.
Lauren Harvey, Sydney Representative said, ‘We have many valued clients in New South Wales and the opening of this space will enable us to engage and interact with existing, and new clients more regularly. Sydney is a vibrant, art loving city and we are excited to establish a permanent base here.’
D’Lan Contemporary Sydney will open with our annual exhibition REVERENCE, presenting a selection of exceptional modern and contemporary works of art by this country’s leading First Nations artists.
